"The Last Glance" is a deeply emotional piece inspired by Aysel Gürel’s poignant poem of the same name. It captures the bittersweet intensity of a final look at someone you love, knowing it will be the last. Through bold, fragmented shapes and vibrant, clashing colors, I wanted to convey the chaos of emotions—love, sorrow, longing, and the ache of inevitability.
The single eye, emerging amidst the layers of color and lines, becomes the focal point, embodying that fleeting, heartbreaking moment of connection. The figure’s clown nose adds another layer of meaning, symbolizing the feeling of being like a comedian, laughed at during the interaction, amplifying the vulnerability and self-awareness of the moment. The textures and overlapping forms reflect the turmoil within, as if the colors themselves are struggling to hold onto the memory. To me, this piece is about the fragile beauty of goodbye—a moment that is both devastating and unforgettable, with a tinge of irony and humiliation woven into its emotional complexity
