"Green Apple"
"Green Apple"
Medium: Graphite pencils & acrylic on 45x45cm-cardboard paper
This artwork was created during the COVID-19 lockdown period. The artist employs symbolism. The portrait's gender is female, drawing on the common personification of nature as a nurturing mother. However, after centuries of human abuse of the earth, this once-life-giving Mother Nature has become a villain, offering us death symbolized by a green apple. Why an apple, not another fruit? The apple is a symbol of Adam and Eve, the biblical story of creation and the beginning of humanity's presence on Earth
